Sitges Grup Independent has organized a meeting with thePort D’aiguadolc-Sitgesto present its project and listen to the concerns of local residents and owners. The renewal or extension of the concession in 2022 creates more uncertainty and therefore Sitges GI has committed to accompany and support the management of the Port throughout the process. According to David Martínez, candidate for the mayor of Sitges GI, it is important that the City Council accompanies the Port of Aiguadolç during this complicated stage, and that they don't feel alone when it comes to considering the future of Port. Sitges GI agrees about the importance of a future project of the nautical-sports complex that contemplates conserving the values of the current model, defending the continuity of the current moorings and businesses and opposing to any attempt to enlarge the port, since this would mean an environmental grievance.
The Candidate for Sitges GI David Martínez also stated that it is time to value the three marina ports of the town (Port d'Aiguadolç, Port Ginesta and Port de Garraf) and the need to publicize these unique spaces to enjoy its leisure, gastronomic, sporting and cultural offer. That is why we need to open new paths to facilitate the access to the Port from the center of the town and more publicity of the activities that are carried out in the complex. According to Martínez, the proposal to take advantage of spaces such as the Port of Aiguadolç to perform sports stages can be a good to help to boost the space economically, with the visit of sportists who could enjoy during their stay of the services and activities offered by the port and the rest of the municipality.
Today's meeting is part of the round of meetings held by Sitges GI in the last few weeks with different groups and associations of the city such as Sitges Gay Link, the Neighborhood Association of Vinyet, Can Pei, Quint Mar, Montgavina and entities such as Rugby Club Sitges and CF Blanca Subur among others.
